Squatters
About a month ago, I forgot to cover my grill after a barbecue. That mishap resulted in a daily photo one day after a rain shower. Finally I decided to cover it, I opened it to check it and surprisingly a Wren had moved in and made renovations to her liking! There were already several tiny eggs in the nest in only 2 weeks! This had never occurred to me that a bird might try to occupy my grill! There is only a small 1 inch opening in the back that runs the length of the back of the grill, and that is her entry point. So after accepting I will not have any barbecues in the near future, I left her to enjoy her new urban condo. A quick peek through the opening a day ago, revealed a couple of little chicks in the nest! So, if you leave your grill uncovered during the summer, this is what can happen!!

on July 12, 2013How sweet; nice of you not to evict them. I am waiting for my baby swallows to leave their nest under the deck so I can start some much need renovations there.
